Molly's top ten

These are my top ten homesteading goals for 2010:

1. To join a CSA and take part in One Local Summer once again. To visit CSA farm at least once, hopefully with girl friends taking part in CSA shares. To share recipes and experiences.
2. To gradually replace household cleaners and whatnot with more eco-friendly alternatives.
3. To knit a hat or sweater or anything that diverges from the square-shape greatly.
4. To take a sewing course and learn how to not be frightened of the bobbin.
5. To go vegetarian again. To let it stick.
6. To go maple syruping. To consider honey.
7. To revive my vermicomposting bin. Right now, there are five hard-working worms. They feel so very lonely.
8. To have another successful garden. To order from a seed catalog. To learn more about heirloom varieties.
9. To bone up on my green literature.
10. To be more openly curious about the world outdoors. To make those quests an adventure. And to share those curiosities with others. To learn and to learn some more.

I also want to camp at least (at least!) three times this summer, I want to learn to snowshoe, and I want to write more that reflects my relationship with the outdoors (and establish a better relationship with the outdoors, negative temperatures or no).

By the way, if any of you might know what's going on with this winter curiosity, please feel free to leave your two cents on that post. I might have to take another journey up the bluff! xo

Replacing the household cleaners is as simple as buying a box of baking soda, and bottles of white vinegar + hydrogen peroxide.

Oh Shona, I know this is one of the easier ones. :) Part of it, honestly, is just making sure we use up all our other cleaners (I don't want to just toss it out) and convincing the ease of transfer to the rest of my household. My husband is very skeptical of eco-alternatives, though this is often over using packaged products, such as Seventh Generation, etc.
